Carson-Dellosa and Common Core

When Carson-Dellosa asked me to review their Common Core Connections Math Workbook and Language Arts Workbook I was thrilled. I have had the books for a while now.  They cover a wide variety of common core standards.  I now have had an opportunity to use both books in my classroom and as homework.

Here are my thoughts:
I like that the standard is listed at the top of each page.
I like that the pages have the I Can statements at the bottom.

I will use the majority of the math book throughout the year as I teach the various standards.
However the Language arts book had too many pages that I know I could never use with my kindergartners, unless I were to read it too them.  The concepts on the pages were great, but it is the reading part that seemed to be too difficult, at least for my students.  I will be using some of the reading pages with my class, but only as an oral listening activity.
These rhyming pages are good.  I will be using these in the coming weeks.  I like the format and the directions are clear.  Again, I like how the standard is stated and the I Can statement is at the bottom.

Overall, I think the Kindergarten Common Core books are good, but they might not be relevant for some of the students in your class.
Make sure to visit Carson-Dellosa's web page for many other great Common Core materials.  I Reviewed their Common Core State Standards Kit last year.  It is such great visual for me to have in my room.
