Thanksgiving Round-Up of Resources

Can you believe that it is already November and in a few short weeks it will be Thanksgiving.  If you are like me, you are probably knee deep in assessments and will be completing report cards during Thanksgiving break. This month I'm pulling out my favorite centers, activities and books to keep my kindergarteners occupied while I assess. I only have 9 days to fit it all in until Thanksgiving break.  We are fortunate enough to get the entire week off. Next week is a 4 day work week due to Veterans day.

Thanksgiving Resource Round-up- reading, writing, math and art. Everything you need to to keep your centers fun and engaging.

We will be talking about what it means to be thankful and creating this writing craftivity. This is such a fun project, there are so many different skills involved to put it all together.  It takes a lot of listening and following directions and folding those turkey legs is great fine motor practice.  The kids love doing this once they learn how.

This is a first sound center I'll be using with a few of my kindergartners who are still working on beginning sounds.  I have about 4 who still need it.  I also like to leave these out for early finishers. Just becasue they know their sounds doesn't mean they can't still use the practice.

I love making this turkey headband.  It is by far one of my favorite projects to make in November.  It takes the kids a while to cut everything out and assemble all the pieces, and the results can sometimes be comical.  We often will make our headbands then parade around the school to perform our poem for the other classes.

My students also love playing Where's the Pilgrim.  They can't get enough of it. It is such a fun way to practice our sight words.
